Ottawa County Health Department

The Ottawa County Health Department Vital Statistics office has the authority to issue certified birth certificates for anyone born in Ohio from December 20, 1908 to now. Ohio's electronic vital records system connects all county health departments to the central state database, which is what makes statewide access possible. The office handles both in-person and mail-order requests for certified copies.

The health department also keeps records of all births and deaths that happened within Ottawa County itself. Fees for certified copies are set by state law and can change, so call the office to check the current price before ordering. Contact them directly for the most up-to-date hours, payment options, and any forms you need to fill out. For births before 1908, the health department will point you to the probate court.
